I am an artist & writer, as well as a birder, naturalist, philosopher, mother, grandmother, and more.

Mostly, I'm an incurable student & maker of things.  If I'm not learning new things or making something, I'm not happy.

Because I have eclectic tastes & near-infinite interests, my art is equally wide-ranging.  On the other hand, a common thread that runs through all my work is the juxtaposition of unexpected things.  I like throwing random-ish elements together & seeing what happens.

About seventeen years ago when my children were in high school, I began taking painting classes on a whim.  Although I'd always been creative, until then my creativity had mostly taken the form of writing & music.  Learning about color & design opened up whole new modes of creativity & expression for me.

I am extremely fortunate to have the luxury of my own creative space in the basement of our home where I design, create, & paint.   I love the process of taking an idea & figuring out how to manifest that into a physical object.  I can't stop doing it.  To me, that's freedom.
